Its that time of the season again, where indie and local bands take over the Natural History Museum in exposition park. The entire lineup has yet to be announced but we already no who you can expect for the first two rounds of the monthly concert series. On January 8th Atlas Sound and the Tune-Yards will be first up to bat to shake things up, and then on February 5th Yeasayer with local favorites Warpaint will be next to rock some Dino bones. Tickets will be available soon and can be picked up through NHM.org
Ozomatli are finishing up their latest tour with 2 nights at Club Nokia here in their hometown of Los Angeles. We reported a while back about a Weezer show at UCI Bren Events Center that is supposed to take place next month on the 11th. But unfortunately after the bands bus crash that left lead singer Rivers Cuomo with three cracked ribs, future shows have been postponed until further notice. We are happy to hear that Rivers was already released from the hospital and healing. We will wait patiently for your return guys!
M. Ward & Zooey Deschanel recently announced that their follow up album “Volume 2” can be expected to be released on March 23 next year. We waited patiently and now I am excited to say that a Los Angeles show is already on the calendar! She & Him will be playing at the El Rey Theater on Thursday, March 25. Tickets will go on sale this Saturday 12/19 and will definitely sell out so do not forget to get yours.
I love it when I get little gems like this in my inbox. Emanuel and The Fear are a 11 piece Brooklyn based band that decided that covering Deerhoof’s “The Perfect Me” was the perfect idea. We already announced this before, but I guess we can count it as “official” now. The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival is set to take place April 16, 17 and 18, 2010 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. Some changes have already been announced for concert goers and campers. All festival attendees will be able to go in & out of the concert venue during the show for the entire weekend, and campers will now be able to park right next to their tent! The layaway pre-sale ticket plan will be offered again this year and starts today December 14th, and will go on until February 15th. Sometimes they last, sometimes it just comes to an end. Unfortunately Mika Miko is one of those that are coming to an end. After a good 6 year run and gaining tons of popularity in the Los Angeles scene, the band decided that now would be a good time to work on othe side projects that have been on hold including returning to school. In order to bid farewell, two last shows have been scheduled at The Smell for Thursday, December 31st and Friday, Janurary 1st. Tickets are available through TheSmell.org and will go for 10 bucks.
The Big Pink just recently made their Los Angeles debut last November, and already the band plans on hitting the road again with a second LA visit already set. If that isn’t enough good news for you, they are also bringing along A Place to Bury Strangers on tour with them. This stellar show will be happening at one of my favorite venues the El Rey on Tuesday, March 9. Tickets go on sale this Saturday 12/12 at 10am, click the link below to get yours.
