This weekend The Duke Spirit will be coming to Los Angeles for a show in support of their latest release “Bruiser”. You can see them at the Echoplex on Sunday, June 3rd along with Hacienda to open up the show. Tickets are still available to purchase online through Ticketweb for $19.00 plus any additional service fees. But if you would like to get into the show to see The Duke Spirit for free, we have some good news for you.

Black S&, Bright Beast & Monsters Calling Home Playing Villains Tavern

This amazing Los Angeles weather has been making Everything Under The Sunday at Villains Tavern even better each week. This weekends line up is another solid one with plenty of local talent, and one of our favorites from the series will be making their return. Black S& (pronounced Black Sand) will headline EUTS this week and recently released their first EP “A Ghost That Follows Me” online. They also recently got some airtime on KCRW. Bright Beast (members of George Glass, The Transmissions and One Trick Pony) will also hit the sunny stage for a set and if you saw their performance at the Jubilee, then you know that they’re gonna bring the summer vibes to Villains Tavern. Monsters Calling Home has become one of those bands that win over the crowd everytime they perform. They played at EUTS before a few weeks back and have been invited to return and kick off their tour, let’s send them off correctly. We will also be around to spin some tunes for you guys between bands as well.

As always Everything Under The Sunday is free to attend this and every Sunday through the summer for the 21 and over set. This weeks show will go a little later than usual from 2pm-9pm. Gotye Sets Tour & L.A. Show

Gotye has just announced that he will be heading out on a massive world tour in support of his latest release “Making Mirrors” and there is a local Los Angeles show date included on the schedule. Gotye will be taking of the stage of the Greek Theatre on Tuesday, September 4th. Joining him for the L.A. show will be Chairlift and Jonti to open up the night. Tickets for Gotye at Greek Theatre will go on sale starting on Friday, June, 8th at 10am through Ticketmaster. Ticket prices will range between $39.00 - $59.50 plus any additional service fees. Help Save Dirty Laundry TV!

DirtyLaundry.tv has been one local music site that we’ve been a fan of since the early days of Downtown Lobby. The web series interviews some of our favorite bands while they’re doing their laundry before they hit the road and continue their tour. Many of our favorites have stopped by the mat for a chat including Cults, OFF!, The Slits, Ariel Pink, Vivian Girls, Local Natives, The Soft Pack, Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), The Futureheads and so many more. The video above shows plenty of highlights of the previous years. But in order to keep the Dirty Laundry production going, they will need your help.

The web series has been self-funded for the past three years, but in order to keep the crew going they need your donations. Dirty Laundry have started a Kickstarter campaign and will take donations as low as $5. La Sera, Pangea & More To Play Viva Pomona!

Pomona will be showing some major pride this summer with a mini festival called Viva Pomona! Details just surfaced about the event and which bands will be playing throughout the day long show. You can expect to see performances by La Sera, Grass Widow, So Many Wizards, Pangea, The Lovely Bad Things and many more. The full line up is listed below for you to gander at. This will all be taking place on Saturday, July 14th and at multiple locations including The Glass House, Aladdin Jr. and Joey’s BBQ.

Tennis Adds Second Local Show

We recently mentioned that Tennis would be making their return to Los Angeles for a show at the El Rey Theatre on Sunday, August 12th in support of their latest release “Young & Old”. But if that date or location doesn’t work for you, another date has been added. You can now see Tennis when they play on Monday, August 13th at at Observatory OC in Santa Ana.

The Silverlake Jubilee made its return this past Memorial Day weekend and was bigger and better than ever. For the street festival being in it’s third year, it has quickly grown to one of the new highlights of spring. Even though the ticket prices for the two day fest shot up from a $5 suggested donation to a $30 2-day pass (majority of the money went to support local charities), families, locals and music lovers still came out to Santa Monica Blvd to enjoy the party.

Each day at the Jubilee came with a very strong line-up and included performances by Allah-Las, La Sera (pictured on the right), Tearist, The Record Company, The Soft Pack, La Santa Cecilia(pictured above), Kinky, Autolux, Aloe Blacc and so many more. The biggest bummer of the weekend came in the form of a band cancellation. FIDLAR couldn’t play on Saturday due to illness, but The Record Company filled in for a great set.

All in all the Silverlake Jubilee was a total sucess. And after the hole that Sunset Junction left in our hearts and then later crapped in, this was a great way to fill the void. Twilight Summer Series Returns With Best Coast, HAIM & More

The 28th annual Santa Monica Twilight Summer Series will be making it’s return this season and have just announced their full schedule of free shows! You can expect to see performances by Best Coast (pictured), HAIM, Wildcat! Wildcat! and many more. There is definitely something for everyone to enjoy. The full schedule of shows can be seen after the jump below.

These shows are all completely free to attend and open to all ages. The twilight series will kick off on Thursday, July 5th and will continue every Thursday until September 6th. Each show will begin at 7pm but early arrival is strongly suggested. Grab a blanket and chairs and make your way down to the Santa Monica pier for some free live performances under the stars!

So excited to hear about The Vaccines returning to Los Angeles for another local show! This is one band that I just can’t get enough of. New York duo School of Seven Bells will be making their return later this year for another show in support of their third release “Ghostory”. This time around the band will be playing down in Santa Ana on Saturday, October 6th at the Observatory OC. No word yet on who will be opening up the show.

Odd Future’s DJ Syd tha Kyd and producer Matt Martians aka The Internet made their live debut last night to a sold out crowd at The Echo. Fans came out by the hundreds and tons were left outside hoping to score a ticket in. But once inside you can tell that this was a show for family and friends. As expected, The entire OFWGKTA were also there to support the usually shy friend Syd. But once she hit the stage with a full band, she completely opened up and showed her full potential.

The Internet ran through a long set list that included almost all of the track off of their debut LP “Purple Naked Ladies”. During their performance of “Lincoln” and “Cocaine”, their fellow OF mates Left Brain and Mike G took the mic to spit out their verses on the track. This entire show felt like a celebration, and you were able to feel it in the performance, in Syd’s interaction with fans and by the crowds reaction to every song. As of now, there are no other US dates on their schedule but we hope to see this band play again soon. Check out all of the photos taken from last nights debut show by clicking the link below.

Levitt Pavilion Pasadena Announces Summer Schedule

The Levitt Pavilion Pasadena (aka the mini Hollywood Bowl) have announced their summer music schedule and there will be plenty of reasone to hit the park this season. The schedule includes 50, that’s right 50 free live music shows. A couple of highlights that we’re looking forward to include Dam Funk, Fools Gold, Thao and the Get Down Stay Down, Hanni El Khatib, Diego Garcia and many more. Dam Funk will kick things off on June 16th and the season will continue until August 26th. The full schedule can be seen after the jump below.

Magic Wands are one local favorite that should not be missed live.

Weezer To Play The Roxy Theatre

Looks like Weezer will be playing at the small Hollywood landmark venue next month for a very special show. The band will be performing on Wednesday, June 6th at The Roxy Theatre. This show isn’t listed on the venues website yet, but we did find the ticket sales information page that reads “Early Years Scholarship Featuring Weezer”. But no other information has been made available… Yet. If any other details are released we will update this post.

Icelandic Indie folk/pop band Of Monsters and Men will be making their return to Southern California for a show in support of their debut album “My Head Is an Animal”. This time the band will be playing on Wednesday, August 8th at the Observatory OC in Santa Ana. This is the closest show to Los Angeles on their schedule and before they head back to Europe.

Eagles of Death Metal sold out their initimate show at Alex’s Bar pretty fast. But in order to include more fans, the band have decided to add on a second show on the same day! There will now be an early show on Sunday June 10th at 6pm and the original gig will take place later on at 10pm at the same Longe Beach venue. Deap Vally will be there to open for EODM.

The long Memorial Day weekend is coming up which means you have another reason to come out to Villains Tavern for some great live music and daytime drinking. Everything Under The Sunday continues this week and the line up is not going to dissappoint.

After releasing their debut EP Cutty Gold will bring in their catchy surf-pop sounds to the outdoor stage for their live debut. L.A trio Torches just rocked The Satellite for their record release show and will play an evening set. Last but most definately not least Pony Boy (which features Amy Wood of Big Black Delta) will open up the show with some classic Americana style rock. We will also be on hand to spin some tunes for you guys between band sets.

This is all taking place on Sunday, May 27th from 1-8pm at Villains Tavern in downtown. Just like every week, this show is completely free to attend. Twin Shadow To Play Hollywood Forever

So excited to hear that Twin Shadow will be returning to Los Angeles for another local show. This time around he will be performing at The Masonic Lodge inside of Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Wednesday, June 6th in support of his upcoming release “Confess”.
