Either you love her or hate her, butLana Del Rey has been receiving some major buzz within the past months ever since she uploaded her track “Video Games” online. Since then it seems that she has been on the fast track to stardom. First getting signed to Interscope, selling out shows within minutes and last weeks highly criticized SNL performance. Her debut album “Born To Die” is ready to be released this month on January 31st and to celebrate Lana Del Rey will play a free show in town. You can see her when she takes the stage at Amoeba Music in Hollywood on Tuesday, February 7th at 6pm.

This is a free show that is open to the public, so with that said early arrival is strongly suggested if you’re hoping to get a good spot. This show is going to reach capacity and the first 300 people who purchase the album starting on 1/31 will also be able to get in line for the signing after the show.

Idle Warship is the side project that includes hip hop artist Talib Kweli and soul singer Res. They released “Habits of The Heart” last November and are now planning to perform a free show in Hollywood on Wednesday, January 11th at Amoeba Music. The duo will also be playing at The Key Club later no that same night.

This is a free show and open to the public. The show starts at 6pm but early arrival is always suggested if you’re hoping to get a good spot. Stick around after the show and they will both be signing copies of their debut release. Justin Bua will be celebrating the release of his new art book “The Legends of Hip Hop” with a book signing at Amoeba Music in Hollywood on Thursday, November 17th starting at 6pm. The book features pioneers who have helped shape the world of hip hop. One of those pioneers is legendary turntablist DJ Q-Bert. He will also be at the book signing and will start a performance at 6pm to kick off the event. If you have yet to ever see Q-Bert do his thing with vinyl then I highly suggest you be here for this one. We also suggest that you arrive early to guarantee a good viewing spot for this free show.

                    

We previously mentioned that Yelle will be coming back to Los Angeles for a show over at The Wiltern on Thursday, November 10th but we also know how muc hoyou guys love free shows, so here is some good news. Yelle will be performing at Amoeba Music in Hollywood for a free show on Wednesday, November 9th starting at 6pm. This is all ages and open to the public, but early arrival is strongly suggested. 

Tickets are still available to purchase for The Wiltern show through Live Nation and are going for $25.00 plus any additional service fees. Now you have two chances to catch Yelle live this November!

DJ Shadow is one turntablist that always puts one a great live show. We previously mentioned that he will be bringing his “Live From The Shadowsphere” tour to Los Angeles on Sunday, October 23rd at The Music Box (We may even have tickets to giveaway for this, stay tuned). But it seems that DJ Shadow will be sticking around town for a little bit longer and has planned a free show on Monday, October 24th at Amoeba Music in Hollywood at 6pm. Following the performance DJ Shadow will also be signing copies of his new album “The Less You Know The Better”. Early arrival is suggested if you want to get a good spot for this show.  Don’t miss out on this one!

One of the bands that we were so sad to miss after the Sunset Junction cancellation was Dum Dum Girls. I absolutely loved their “He Gets Me High” EP and eagerly awaiting for their second full length album “Only In Dreams” to be released this month. They are scheduled to play at the Troubadour on Monday, October 3rd and tickets are still available to purchase for that show for $15.00 plus additional fees.

But if you prefer a free show, we suggest you make your way over to Amoeba Music in Hollywood on Tuesday, September 27th at 7pm for a performance by Dum Dum Girls. This is a first come first served show and early arrival is suggested if you want to get a good spot.

Fools Gold will be celebrating the release of their new album “Leave No Trace” by performing a free show right here in Hollywood. It will be taking place at Amoeba Music on Wednesday, August 17th at 7pm. Consider this a preview of whats to come when they play at this years FYF Fest on September 3rd. This show is open to the public and is all ages. Early arrival is suggested if you want to get a good spot.

Pavement singer and guitarist Stephen Malkmus is currently performing with The Jicks and are preparing to release their latest album “Mirror Traffic” in September. They have announced a new tour that will bring them to L.A. twice and one of the shows is completely free. Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks will be performing at Amoeba Music in Hollywood on Tuesday, August 23rd at 6pm and then signing copies of the new album. If that doesn’t work for your schedule, they will be back in the fall to play at The Music Box on Wednesday, October 19th.

Tickets for their Music Box show are still available to purchase online through Ticketmaster for $25.00 plus any additional service fees. The free show at Amoeba is open to all ages and is first come first served. Early arrival is suggested if you want a good spot.
